For this server we are going to use a single Pentium III processor running at 1Ghz.  Note this is the FCPGA (flip chip). Copy of P1010193.jpg (20083 bytes)
The arrow points to the correct orientation of the chip in the proper socket  (for a single processor installation).  The Flip chip should just about drop into the socket. If you use any pressure at all make sure it is very light as it can be daunting to try and straighten the pins if you have the chip oriented wrongly. Copy of P1010194.jpg (35304 bytes)
Now we have attached the big aluminum heat sink along with the retention clip that comes in the processor plastic bag. Copy of P1010195.jpg (21220 bytes)
On top of the heat sink clip on the fan and then attach this to the power connector on the STL2 as shown.  Double check the documentation that came with your server board for the precise location of the processor fan. Copy of P1010196.jpg (27120 bytes)
VERY IMPORTANT.  You must install the terminator chip into the unused processor socket if building a single processor system. Otherwise you will install the voltage regulator, a second processor etc. Note the processor's should be the same speed within 1 stepping of each other.  (best bet is to buy two from the same place) Copy of P1010197.jpg (7815 bytes)
