Processors Q. Pleases explain the difference between a Celeron Processor and a Pentium III. A. Below we have reproduced two charts from Intel (all material copyright Intel Corp) that highlight the major differences between the two classes of processor. Pentium III Processor
Currently the P3 is being manufactured in the SECC cartridge format (a rectangular format with an edge that fits into a slot on the motherboard) and current Celerons are coming in a PPGA package (plastic pin grid array) that fits into a socket much like the older 486 processors (it looks like a chip whereas the SECC cartridge does not). To really highlight the differences, notice the different amount of cache between the two processors and the other key point is the difference in bus speed. |
